Endast

The Blue Skies Tour

So we're shaping up for our latest cross Canada tour. Seems all we do is tour. East coast for a while, then west coast, then sometimes both. Between tours we play one-off shows all over Ontario and Quebec. When we're home, all we do is practice. We play constantly. So you'd think this tour is just another run of the mill tour for us, but it's a little different. We've teamed up with some rad sponsors and for the first time got ourselves a tour manager/roadie/dude named Luigi. So now we've got a team that is gonna make this tour particularly rad with tons of cool stuff to offer the fans to give back a little bit.

We've got a pile of new material we want to road test before we put it all down in the studio. So that's what this is. This is the Blue Skies Tour '09, which is our road test for the music from our forthcoming full length called 'Black Cloud'. Coast to coast we are going to drown you in Jagermeister and I personally am going to sweat all over you. That's how Endast rolls. Get fucking ready, Canada.

FACELESS HULK RULES

Ok, so we’ve been rocking with our boys in FACELESS HULK for the last few days on this tour and it has been incredible. Their grind/death blend gets me off, and it translates because the crowd has been responding to them nicely. GO LISTEN TO THEM.

Last night in Thunder Bay was amazing. Having been in the hospital the first time around on this tour, in true Big James fashion I am going to make it up to one of my favorite towns by playing AGAIN tonight at Kilroys. Better than a night off for sure.

Having toured so many times across this country, we have really made some incredible friends coast to coast, and it gets harder and harder to leave them behind and head back home. These are not just people I work with on tour, these are people who understand what I’m doing out here because they themselves do the very same thing and face the same hardships and luxuries.

It’s not like bonding with the guy in the next cubicle. This is a way of life, through and through. The people I meet while doing this are just as passionate, driven and focused as we are, and it’s refreshing to connect to people on this level. I call it the “Pure Rock Fury”, other people call it spirituality, whatever you call it, you know the feeling when your passion takes over and you find yourself just BEING and social inhibitions, monetary concerns, and day to day stresses no longer apply.

Feel it, enjoy it, let it course through your body.  Last night in Thunder Bay I met the guys in the picture above and to watch these guys, so young, throw down so hard, and just literally lose their shit to our music, was so inspiring and so motivating. How could I ever think of a different career path when there are dudes like this out here, hungry for metal?

Never underestimate the strength and the spirit of the underground.

The backswing….

So last night was Prince George, BC. Super intense, packed house, as usual. Extremely fortunate to share the stage with montreal brothers Red October and our new Kamloops friends Blooddrunk. Everyone rocked harder than we probably should have.  A retarded afterparty including ‘wizard staff’ beer drinking has led me to believe that we have crossed the line between recreational alcohol consumption and actual substance abuse.  Between the free flowing Jagermeister and the availability of ice cold pilsner we are in rough shape this morning. But we are having the time of our lives.

This marks the last west coast date on the tour, tomorrow we hit Grande Prairie and start slowly working our way back east. We love BC and we will be sad to watch it go in our rearview mirrors. Not too sad, however, because we’ll be back before ya know it. Such is being a working class rockstar.

Many thanks to our crew in PG, we love you guys.

Still it rains on us….

So I am siting in a million dollar home in Vancouver, BC. It is piss pouring rain outside and I’m wondering why we decided to call this the Blue Skies Tour…but be that as it may, it’s been a fucking amazing tour, and I couldn’t ask for more.

Kamloops and Kelowna were absolutely amazing. Good shows and good crowds in both towns. Saw a few vintage Endast tshirts in the crowd, which was cool, and drank probably way more than I should have, as per usual. Should have called this the Drunk Guys Tour…cuz it rhymes. Our boys and girl in Blood Drunk blew my fucking mind…that band is the next big thing, let me tell you….Kamloops has a great scene, and that band is proof.

Vancouver was also amazing, all things considered. We faced stiff competition with Propaghandi and Divine Heresy playing separate shows elsewhere in the city, but we still had a decent turnout of very, very rowdy Endast fans. Mad props to Jeanine of Faceless Productions for doing a stellar job promoting the show and helping bring people out regardless of other cool shit happening in the city.

Last night was a night off, so we hit the pub and hung out with hometown brothers Red October, and Vancouver brethren Abriosis and now we’re off to Chilliwack to destroy that town. Hard to believe we’re only like halfway through this tour….

Alberta….aka holy shit

I am sitting in Calgary enjoying some incredible hospitality courtesy of some new friends out this way. (we love you guys) And we’re looking at the snow coming down outside and not looking forward to our drive to Kamloops, since we are both hungover and exhausted. It has been a very intense few days….

Edmonton’s sold out show was really intense and we met up with some old friends and made a pile of new ones. We can’t thank that town enough for all the love we were shown. Our boys in Ten Second Epic drank their dicks off with us and we definitely abused ourselves deluxe. I was feeling back to normal, so it was my first real party situation since Thunder Bay….

Then last night in Calgary was again off the hook. Capacity crowd at Vern’s, and it must have been a full moon….I have been touring for years and have seen maybe 5 fights at shows in all that time, and I witnessed three last night at the show. The booze was definitely flowing, and the room was really high intensity. We had the crowd jumping, and we played with our Calgary favorites Kilyakai. Our boy Wes (singer of Kilyakai) took a beer bottle to the face after his set, and I have to say I feel sorry for the guy who did it…lol. Dangerous thing messing with a guy like that….

Fighting aside, everyone had a great time, and we made a few new fans for sure. Now, We are stoked to see our friends in BC….

Video shoots and Hospital Visits

So it’s been a few days since our last update, and with good reason. We cut our way through the maritimes and our native province of Quebec to hit Ontario. We stopped in Toronto to meet up with our crew at Jager Music Canada, and then off to Brantford the following day to shoot a video with Director Justin Peeler of Frontline Pictures. There is a sweet preview shot of our man Pepe above to get your vagina and/or he-pussy moist over.

The following day my own cold had started to heavily effect my performance so I went to a doctor who told me I had a lung infection, and gave me some antibiotics. We played Guelph to a packed house (we love Guelph, we’ll be back) and hit the road towards Thunder Bay.

During the 16 hour drive the ensued, I got progressively worse, vomitted all over a gas station bathroom, ended up with a horrible fever, hallucinating, my face swelled up like a balloon and I turned red like a lobster. Needless to say I didn’t get to do the Thunder Bay show, so the guys did it instrumentally. I hit the emergency room and they were quite concerned with my condition, so I was admitted right away. Long story short, I reacted to the antibiotics the first doctor gave me, so now I’m on six medications instead of one and have orders to stay in Thunder Bay til I’m better.

However, I’m a stubborn working class metalhead, and we start driving this afternoon towards Saskatoon.  See you in the fucking pit….

Holy Trenton, NS!!!

October 12th, 2009 by Big James of Endast

So last night was Trenton, Nova Scotia. We’ve heard tales of the energy the kids have in the Pictou/Trenton region, and sure enough, the crowd delivered. According to some of the kids there, we are the heaviest band to have played there. I don’t know if that’s true, but we were flattered nonetheless.

The crowd was young, but different than most places. Nothing would keep these kids from enjoying their metal. One kid was in a brace (pictured above) and another one was def(!!) but still came out and enjoyed themselves!!! That kind of passion for the music is unheard of in a lot of other places and it means the world to me. To play and look at the audience and see them forget about everything and just throw down and have fun is refreshing. No pretention, no scene bullshit, just people moving around to heavy music. We fucking love shows like that.

Prior to Trenton we had rocked Halifax to a much weaker crowd, but got to hang with our boys from Diminished 5th Records and play some beer pong, and eat a pasta feast. Good times.

MARITIME MAYHEM

So last night was Moncton….aka drunk fest 2009. Mad shout outs to Manlord, Death Valley Driver, and Bong Jovi for being super rad dudes. Amazing bands for sure. We stood out on the bill, but they made us feel at home and then proceded to get fucking shitcanned drunk with us.

Our usual Moncton peeps came out and rocked the front of the stage, and we made some new friends as well. Fuckin’ good times. Iron Giant crew came out to represent as usual as well, and Endast has mad love for those guys.

So we worked off our hangover, landed in Halifax and the Endast Blue Skies Tour 09 is seeing nothing but clouds and rain, but we are gonna rip shit up for the kiddies and find a place to stay…after last night’s debauchery, tonight might be a ‘maybe we should actually sleep’ kind of night. Who knows though….

BLUE SKIES TOUR KICKS OFF

October 9th, 2009 by Big James of Endast

Captain Samuel and Big James moob power

So the first night of the tour went off without too much incident in Fredericton. We rolled out of Montreal, did the 9 or so hours to Fredericton and played with some cool bands. The standout band of the night was Great Than Giants, rad guys, rad band. Dudes for sure.

As usual I did my best to make friends with the kiddies and met a gentleman by the name of Captain Samuel (pictured above) who had bigger man tits than me. Which is a rarity. So we took a picture to always remember the moob power.

Tonight we hit Moncton and will get fucking wasted cuz it’s a bar show.  It’s 11:30am and the Jager is already on ice….
